Tournament Program and Registration Package
The second World Schools Golf Challenge will be staged in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia from April 13-17, 2009.
Host Clubs:
A number of well known local clubs will host the Tournament. These clubs are listed with further details on the ‘Host Clubs’ page of the website.
Schedule of play
One round a day will be played at each host club. The format will be a shot-gun start (time to be advised). All teams will receive a copy of the draw and starting times nearer to the tournament.
Tournament programme:
Teams must arrive in Adelaide on or prior to April 13 and settle into their selected accommodation. All the accommodation options have been chosen for their proximity to the host clubs and the central city.
Practice rounds at players expense will be available at host clubs and details about the special tournament rates will be given to teams nearer the tournament.
Monday April 13 – Mid afternoon, the Team Managers Meeting will be held followed by the, Opening Ceremony and Welcome at the Adelaide Shores Function Centre – at the Adelaide Shores Resort which will be the headquarters for the tournament. The Welcome Party will feature traditional Australian cultural presentations and entertainment and a substantial buffet - all in the company of young high school golfers from all over the world. Teams who are not staying at the Adelaide Shores Resort will need to arrange their own transfers to and from this function.
Tuesday April 14 – Teams will make their own arrangements to get to their Host Club for the first round of the 2009 World Schools Golf Challenge. Full clubhouse catering facilities will be available each day of the tournament at each host club. The rest of the day will be at leisure. There will be many optional tours available. Evening at leisure to enjoy the many tourist attractions available in Adelaide.
Wednesday April 15 – Teams will make their own arrangements to get to their Host Club for the second round of the 2009 World Schools Golf Challenge. The rest of the day is at leisure or to experience one of the local excursion options.
Thursday April 16 – Teams will make their own arrangements to get to their Host Club for the third round of the 2009 World Schools Golf Challenge.
Friday April 17 – Teams will make their own arrangements to get to their Host Club for the final round of the World Schools Golf Challenge. Early evening teams, parents, school staff and supporters will make their own way to the Adelaide Shores Function Centre for the Finale prizegiving dinner – a memorable and spectacular way to wind up a great week of golf in South Australia. The dinner will include the best in South Australian food and entertainment and of course the prizegiving and announcement of the teams who will take the silverware away in 2009.
Saturday April 18 – It's time to say farewell to Adelaide and all your new found friends. Teams will make their own arrangements for transfer to the airport or their post tournament tour.
A programme of special activities is being developed for parents, school staff and supporters accompanying the teams. This programme will include optional tours, shopping excursions and golf outings and details will be advised as teams enter.
Registration Package
It is a condition of entry that all players are required to purchase the official player’s registration package which includes the following elements:
- Four rounds of golf at selected host clubs during the 2009 World Schools Golf Challenge.
- A quality World Schools Golf Challenge souvenir polo golf shirt.
- A welcome package of local information on arrival.
- The Opening Ceremony and Welcome Party which includes traditional South Australian entertainment, unlimited soft drinks and fruit juice and a substantial buffet meal.
- The Prizegiving Dinner which will include entertainment, the tournament prizegiving, unlimited soft drinks and fruit juice and a substantial buffet meal.
The cost of the player’s registration package is AU$250 per person, which will be invoiced to all teams as entries are received.
